17 May Wellpro Group makes seven-figure acquisition in Middle East
Aberdeen-headquartered Wellpro Group has announced its entry into the Middle East with a new acquisition.
The well intervention specialist has bought Hunting Energy Services’ “thru-tubing” and rental business in Dubai for a seven-figure sum.
All 13 staff are transferring over to Wellpro following the deal, which marks the first dedicated operation in the Middle East for the firm.
Wellpro said it expects to create several jobs in the region in the coming months and it intends to make further investment in the premises.
The company, headquartered at Aberdeen’s Auchmill Road, was established last year to service the UK and European well intervention markets and grow further afield.
Chief executive Jim Thomson said: “We are delighted to join forces with the Dubai team as this offers a new platform to jointly expand our business.
“Our diligence has identified how much our new colleagues are qualified and well-known in the industry.”
“We are very confident that together we will achieve our ambitious international expansion objectives.”
Wellpro aims to design, manufacture and test bespoke intervention tools for challenging and non-routine operations, with “significant investment” being made in this to support Eastern Hemisphere operations.
The firm’s Aberdeen HQ will remain as a centre of excellence to support offices in the Middle East and Asia.
Martin Webster, manager of the Dubai operation, added: “Joining Wellpro Group is a great opportunity for both our team and our customers alike. “We expect Wellpro’s focus on thru-tubing services to assist us in bringing value to our clients as well as to attract new ones.”
